A unique Spanish First Language assessment programme has been developed by teachers and consultants for The British School Caracas to measure pupil performance in reading and writing Spanish according to the competencies and indicators of the Venezuelan National Curriculum programme for Spanish.
In addition, The British School Caracas participates in U.K. (National Curriculum for England) statutory assessment tests at the end of Years 2, 6 and 7. Year 6 tests are externally marked in England.
These assessments measure a limited range of pupil development in English, Maths, Science and Spanish. The British School Caracas actively promotes and values very highly the creative, physical, social and emotional development of our pupils. Only when this is taken into account, and it can’t be so readily measured, can the development of the whole child be fully appreciated. We are proud of the academic achievements of our pupils and look forward to adding value to them on an annual basis. We look forward to seeing pupils moving on to secondary schools who are confident, articulate, well motivated and equipped with effective interpersonal skills, the ability to solve problems, the ability to work in teams and to learn for themselves.
