The British School is non-profit making school. The parent body elects a board that oversees the School's governance. A General Assembly is held once a year during which the finances are approved and new members to the Board are elected. The Board is made up of fourteen members of whom eleven are directly elected from the parents at the General Assembly. The other three board members are co-opted by the elected board. The school aims to have at least five members of the board from British or Commonwealth countries. The elected members of the board stand for two years, co-opted members for one year (a term that may be renewed by the elected members).

The Board appoints and empowers the Head Teacher to run the School.

The Board usually meets once a month during the school year. Typically, the Board will hear reports from the Director and the committee members, and will discuss any issues of relevance and make decisions in accordance with the goals that it has set itself.
