Emergency Procedures

Cascade Telephone System.

The Head of School is responsible for consulting reliable sources, such as embassies, other schools, security services, Board members etc. for information to determine the need for school closures. Decisions regarding school closures are made in consultation with the President, although in emergency circumstances where it is not possible to contact the President the Head of School is delegated the responsibility to close the school.

In the event that this is required, the Cascade Telephone System will be put into operation. The Head of School will contact the members of the Senior Management Team (SMT), all of whom have a full list of parents’ telephone numbers at their homes. They, in turn, will phone the Emergency Contact Parents for their departments and all other  members of staff, as follows; the message will be short:

“The British School will be closed until further notice. Please check the website, www.tbscaracas.com, regularly for further information” Do not pass on opinions or other information since the school cannot be accountable for the accuracy of this information"

To ensure that this system works rapidly and efficiently, please do not engage in conversations with the contact parents.     Once you have received the message, allow them to move on swiftly to the next call. You will, of course, be advised when the School re-opens.

Cascade volunteers should inform their Key Stage coordinator of anyone that they were unable to contact.

Please help us to keep an accurate list of telephone numbers by informing us immediately of any changes, downloading the change of details form and faxing it to school on  +58 (212) 265 2141
