The Early Years Foundation Stage (Pre-school and Kinder) consists of the first years of school life:
In the EYFS we aim to provide a safe and stimulating environment in which children can develop socially, emotionally, creatively, physically and academically and provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum which:

• Acknowledges and builds on what children have already experienced and learnt and meets individual children’s needs.
• Enables learning in a familiar, purposeful and supportive environment.
• Teaches independence.

In The Early Years Foundation Stage, the curriculum is divided into 6 areas:

• Social and emotional skills
• Physical skills
• Creative skills
• Language and literacy
• Mathematics
• Knowledge about the world

The English language is a central component to the curriculum. Children are immersed in English, creating a language environment appropriate for both fluent English speakers as well as those who are beginning to learn. English is learned naturally through the authentic need to learn and play using the language. Teachers carefully support language learning in a variety of ways.

At TBSC each child is unique and valued. Children enter the early years programme from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. All children are celebrated, and we endeavour to help each child reach their full potential, discovering their talents and learning styles. Teachers cater learning to each individual’s needs. Support programmes also provide further support to those who need help in learning English, academic support and initial reading skills. Each classroom has at least one full-time Teaching Assistant.

To enhance the learning process, class assemblies are held throughout the year. The curriculum is sufficiently flexible to allow for special occasions such as Book Week.
