The Key Stage 3 programme follows naturally from the curriculum taught in Key Stages 1 and 2.
Key Stage 3 teaching continues the secure, family environment fostered by the earlier key stages whilst encouraging students to extend themselves further in all aspects of their schooling. Key Stage 3 students are encouraged to be more independent and assume leadership roles around the school, which involve mentoring the younger students.

The Key Stage 3 programme is based on the National Curriculum for England. All students are taught:

• English
• Maths
• Science
• Spanish
• ICT
• Drama
• Geography
• History
• Art
• PE
• DT
• Music
• PSHE

The curriculum follows the QCA scheme of work where possible. Teachers have also taken account of our Venezuelan context and each year group takes part in a field trip to a distinct region in Venezuela. Field trips to other Latin American countries are encouraged to allow the students to experience other cultures. Within Key Stage 3 there is a very active Community Links programme with the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital.

Form tutors have a pastoral responsibility for their form class. Form tutors and class teachers work together with the Key Stage Coordinator to ensure that students receive adequate support and are meeting targets. Parents are kept informed of student progress informally through emails and communication via the homework diary or through the regular parental reports and meetings each term.

In Key Stage 3 students are expected to meet the following expectations. Self-discipline is encouraged in the students. There are a number of rewards for students who exceed these standards and there are also clear sanctions in place for those students who fail to meet these targets:

1. Come to school prepared to learn
*Be punctual to all lessons
*Bring the correct equipment for their work
*Always produce their best work
*Hand in their homework at the correct time and place

2. Show respect
*Towards themselves
*Towards others
*Towards property
*Wear a neat, tidy and accurate school uniform
